I Build Weather and Delay Into the Decision

A load may sit well within the crane’s rated capacity while still becoming difficult to control in gusty conditions between tall buildings. I worked on one façade job where the street felt calm at ground level, but the working area above the eighth floor experienced much stronger movement. We paused the lift and waited for safer conditions.

City buildings can create unpredictable wind effects. Corners, roof gaps, and narrow streets may channel air in ways that are not obvious during the morning briefing. We used an agreed radio channel and one designated signaller rather than allowing several workers to give competing instructions.
